Street cats in Puerto Vallarta
Puerto Vallarta's streets are home to thousands of cats who struggle to survive each day. Many suffer from hunger, untreated injuries, infectious diseases, and the constant threat of abuse. Without intervention, the population continues to grow exponentially.
But there's hope. Local volunteers and animal lovers are working tirelessly to change this reality—one cat at a time. Your support can make a difference.
Learn more about our missionOne unspayed female can produce up to 3-4 litters per year, with typically 4-6 kittens per litter. In just 3 years, one female and her offspring can produce over 100 cats. This is why sterilization is our most urgent priority.
Street cats suffer from many treatable conditions that go unchecked: Feline Leukemia (FeLV), FIV, upper respiratory infections, parasites (fleas, ticks, worms), eye infections, and painful abscesses from fights. Without treatment, these conditions are often fatal.
Sterilization is the most effective, humane way to reduce street cat populations. For every cat we spay or neuter, we prevent dozens of future kittens from being born into a life of struggle. Your donation directly funds these life-saving surgeries.
Cats of Vallarta exists to protect and care for the street cat population of Puerto Vallarta through rescue, feeding, and sterilization. We believe every cat deserves compassion, proper medical care, and a chance at a better life.
